The web based tool is now ready for use in 29 North Carolina Newborn Critical Care Centers. While there are approximately 90 hospitals in our state with delivery services, these 29 centers, lead by neonatal medical and nursing specialists, provide care for infants born prematurely or critically ill. These 29 centers have unique challenges to provide family centered care and formally collect parent evaluation of readiness for discharge.
A program designed for local perinatal quality improvement teams (PQIT’s) was provided in three locations (Winston Salem 12/08, Raleigh 2/09, and Pinehurst 3/09) to stimulate interest and provide information about implementation of the program. Teams were encouraged to explore the characteristics of their unit, and involve family members, formal leadership and staff in the design of local implementation. Additionally, they were coached to use a system or method of measuring the success of program implementation in their site.
A second charter for the implementation of the online How's Your Baby Discharge Readiness Tool has been developed and is available via the link at right.
Primary work on the new How's Your Baby site has been completed and a change package has been developed (see below). Action Learning Labs have been scheduled for December 2nd in Winston-Salem, February 6th in Raleigh, and March 13th in Pinehurst. You can register for the December 2nd Action Learning Lab here.
